Summer Camp

As a caretaker for Nashville children this summer, you play a big role in making sure the kids in our community succeed and avoid the summer slide. Many times, children do not have the resources they need at home during the summer. At your camp, they can have those resources to help them to continue learning and expanding their vocabulary skills. While a child is in your care, you can make sure they fit in time to read or to be read to. This critical reading time can mean the difference between the children in your care growing up to drop out of high school or to have a successful career and future.

As a Jump In partner, here are a couple of ways you can get involved:

Spread the Word

Help us get our messaging out by displaying posters and window clings in high-visibility areas of your camp. We want to remind families every day about the importance of reading.

Participate in Summer Challenge

Encourage children and staff at your camp to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge organized by the Nashville Public Library. Learn more here.

Set a Goal

Set a summer reading goal for your camp (we’ll provide resources for setting good goals) and regularly celebrate your success.
