Did you know sickness is one of the biggest reasons kids miss school? You can’t avoid every bug, but you can reduce the chances of getting sick this cold and flu season by following these tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
- Get the flu shot: It’s not too late to get the flu shot. Make sure everyone in your family gets vaccinated. This is the best way to guard against the flu. You can still get the flu if you get the flu shot, but the flu is usually milder—meaning your student will be able to return to school sooner.
- Cover coughs and sneezes: Cold and flu germs can be spread by coughing and sneezing. Teach your kids to cover their coughs and sneezes with tissues (or their upper sleeve).
- Wash hands frequently: Cold and flu germs also spread between unclean hands. Wash them frequently, before eating and after coughing or sneezing.
